Why did you start doing Crossfit? My friend posted pics of her doing pull ups on Facebook and I thought she looked like a beast! Her qauads looked so great – she looked so strong. She talked me into it. Thank you Lan Phuong!
What were your goals then? To get on with my life after divorce.
What is one of your current goals? To total 100kg in my lifting competition!!!!! I just want to be better…every time I try, I want to do better than I did before.
What were your first impressions? I certainly didn’t think at 42 I’d be able to do half the exercises – I have surprised myself every day since.
How have they changed? Strength training and Crossfit have become part of my life – like tying my shoes or eating breakfast. I’ll never stop. I look forward to going to the box every day – pushing myself.
What can you do now that you never thought you could? Wear a two piece bathing suit!! ha
How has your life changed since you started doing Crossfit? I’ve become much more confident socially. I’m usually quiet in group settings. That has helped personally and professionally for me.
Mentally/physically? It’s made me tougher in every way. More confidence, more stamina.
Anything you did not expect? The community. It’s like nothing I’ve ever experienced before at a gym. Everyone’s supportive, everyone’s friendly. I truly enjoy being at the box.
What is your favorite Crossfit Buffalo memory? My first (and only) rope climb – I have a serious fear of heights but wanted to prove to myself I could do it. Dave was a huge help in that – even though getting down was harder and scarier than climbing up!!
