NICK MASIA

Coach Nicholas Masia is a chiropractor, and has been a CrossFitter for seven years. Specializing in mobility and stability, Nicholas is passionate about doing things correctly, and caring about whatever it is that you do. “I am a full believer in leaving no stone unturned, meaning I am going to do everything in my power to make sure there is no doubt in my mind that I could not have done something better,” he says. “Now whether that is a patient I see at my office, coaching a class, or training for competition, I don’t ever want to look back and say ‘Well, maybe if I could have done this, or not have done that, the outcome would be better.”

Nicholas’ athletic journey starts with 11 years of competitive swimming, including four at SUNY Oswego. “What brought me to coaching is simple: I enjoy fitness, but more than that, I love showing people what they are capable of. Some of the best feelings have come from people coming to me after they PR a lift and say ‘I never thought I would be able to do that.’ Also hearing that someone was finally able to perform a basic movement such as a squat or a lunge pain free when they previously would avoid those movements because of pain.”

Being a full-time chiropractor, Nicholas is not able to coach as many classes as he would like, but being able to help members both inside the gym as a coach and outside the gym as a doctor is very rewarding.
